Minimal Invasive Surgery is one of actual and fast developing directions of the modern medicine. As opposed to traditional methods of surgery after minimal invasive intervention there is much less complications: peritoneal commissures, hernias, postoperative wound inflammation and others. Minimal traumatisation of the patients after intervention allow considerably shorten the period of patient’s recovery.
The activity of the Department of minimal invasive laparoscopic or «bloodless» surgery is realized in compound of abdominal surgery in accordance with its modern standards and criteria. Using special devices, miniature cameras with microscopes, optic-fiber lighting and monitors of high resolution, the specialists perform the operations through small incisions, which later get sewed up with one or two stitches. Therefore, the trauma of the tissues is minimal, the pains during post-operative period are insignificant and the duration of staying in hospital is much shorter.
Minimal invasive surgery also allows to implement the small intervention such as diagnostic and therapeutic punctures, drainage to avoid the additional operative intervention.
The advantages of Minimal Invasive Surgery are:
- Due to the small incisions patients have less pain which does not need analgetics;
- Opposite to traditional open surgery in case of minimal invasive intervention the functioning of intestinal tract recovers much earlier and patient return to their everyday life just few days after intervention
- Significant improvement of patient's health and the quality of his life short period of hospitalization
- Besides, minimal invasive intervention is less traumatic for surrounding tissue, allow avoiding significant bleeding during the surgery.
The Department is leaded by international protocols and standards in its activity the. The indexes of effectiveness and complications after the minimal invasive interventions in the Department are minimal and comparable with accepted international standards.
The Department is equipped with the most modern medical technologies, which ideally suit for implementation of most difficult surgical procedures that require from the surgeon the high accuracy and responsibility. Department equipped also with laporoscopic equippment Dyonics, ultrasound destructor AutoSonix and also all other necessary for “open surgery” instruments sets.
The main and priority directions of activity of Department of Minimal Invasive Surgery are:
- Laparoscopic Surgery
- Bariatric Surgery
- Minimal Invasive Surgery in oncology
- Hepato – biliar minimal – invasive surgery
- Abdominal minimal – invasive surgery
In the Department of Minimal Invasive Surgery the treatment of patients with disease of the organs of abdominen including liver, gall bladder, stomach, large and small intestine, pancreas is performed. The treatment of the patients with different location hernias, with obesity (bariatric surgery) using the methods of stomach bandaging, sleeve gastrectomy, different types of bypass surgery are also implemented.
For the last 2 years over 500 laparoscopic surgeries had been performed at the Department. In 98% of all cases of cholelithiasis and appendicitis the interventions are performed laparoscopically.
The surgery of high complexity such as anterior resection of the rectum, sigmoid colon resection, hemicolectomy, sleeve gastrectomy and pancreatoduodenal resection had been performed at the Department.
In its activity the Department is guided by international protocols and standards. Indexes of effectivness and complications in the Department are insignificant and could be compared with accepted international standards.
