The Department of Endocrine Surgery of MC Erebouni was founded in 1986 by Professor Harutyun Kushkyan. Over the years, thousands of patients have been operated on in the department, and today it is considered the best department of endocrine surgery in the country, where unique surgeries are performed on the thyroid and parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, breast and pancreas. Most of all endocrine surgeries in the republic are performed here.In 1997, through the efforts of Professor Harutyun Kushkyan, the Institute of National Health was founded on the basis of the department, then the Department of Endocrine Surgery of Yerevan State Medical University named after M. Heratsi, where a large number of surgeons specialize to this day. Hundreds of scientific works have been carried out, many candidate's and doctoral thesis have been defended. In parallel with the work carried out in these decades, many new technologies have been introduced.Laparoscopic adrenalectomy and endoscopic thyroidectomy were performed in the department for the first time in Armenia. Currently, clear methodological and technical criteria have been developed in this direction. The latest surgical technologies and equipment allow us to give preference to minimally invasive surgical interventions: minimal access surgeries, video endoscopic surgeries, surgical interventions under the control of ultrasound, etc.The following types of surgical intervention are performed in the Department of Endocrine Surgery of MC Erebuni.
