In November 16th of 2016 for the first time in Armenia in maternity clinic of MC Erebouni with direct support of Management of the Hospital and participation and support of the UN Children`s Fund (UNICEF), the Ministry of Health RA, the “Family Academy” public organization was held the opening ceremony for “Mother’s room” dedicated to promote and develop the breastfeeding practice for mothers.
The room is equipped with modern tele and video- technology, video materials, books, booklets and other useful materials, with help of which “the first swallows”- a few pregnant women were able to get acquainted with the art of breastfeeding - an important component for the first days of a child`s life and its further development. Specially trained nurses, who have passed specialization in this field, helped expectant mothers to learn skills.
.In recent years the emancipation of women has led to an increase of weaning the baby from the breast, which is detrimental to children`s health.
The opening of “Mother’s Room” can be considered as back to the roots. Such initiative is planned to be implemented in the near future at the polyclinic of maternity hospital of Ararat. Over time the opening of “Mother’s Room” will be held in other regions of Armenia.
“We are glad and proud, that it is the first time in Armenia, in our hospital, the maternity clinic of which is one of the best and the most advanced in Armenia, laid the foundation for a wonderful initiative!”- said executive director of MC Erebouni Michael Manukyan.
