The maternity ward at Erebuni Medical Center, the largest in the Republic and a provider of comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological services in Armenia, has established an oncology service within its gynecological department. This initiative, led by Andranik Poghosyan, the director of the maternity ward, aims to enhance the care of women diagnosed with cancer.
The establishment of the oncology service is intended to deliver high-quality medical services while educating future specialists on the latest oncology guidelines and contemporary treatment methodologies.
This initiative represents an ongoing commitment to professional development and presents numerous opportunities for advancement. Virab Sisakyan, head of the gynecological service at the Novosibirsk Regional Oncology Center in the Russian Federation, is currently collaborating with Erebuni Medical Center. He is sharing his expertise with the medical staff at the maternity ward and gaining insights into the center's capabilities. Mr. Sisakyan has expressed his willingness to support the development of the oncology service at Erebuni Medical Center.
During his engagement, Mr. Sisakyan provided valuable insights into cancer diagnosis, treatment protocols, and surgical techniques related to tumor diseases. He also discussed patient management systems and effective postoperative treatment strategies with his Armenian colleagues. As part of this collaboration, he conducted a demonstration surgery for uterine cancer and addressed inquiries from fellow medical professionals.
The advancement of oncology services—including urological, mammological, gynecological, and other specialties—at Erebuni Medical Center has resulted in a significant increase in surgeries for these conditions. The creation of integrated treatment services has long been a priority for the center. Under the leadership of Professor Harutyun Kushkyan, the founder of Erebuni Medical Center, a state-of-the-art Radiotherapy Center is set to launch soon. This facility will be distinguished in Armenia by its advanced infrastructure, technical equipment, and professional expertise.
The Radiotherapy Center will utilize cutting-edge radiation and diagnostic equipment from leading manufacturers, including Varian (USA) and Siemens Healthineers (Germany). With the establishment of this center, Erebuni Medical Center will be positioned to provide comprehensive, high-quality medical care for cancer patients, encompassing diagnosis, surgical intervention, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
