The state program for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke has been functioning in the republic for already a year. Since February 1, 2019, 345 patients have received medical treatment at MC Erebouni.
It should be noted that by the state program, free of charge, in a short period of time, patients have undergone the necessary laboratory-instrumental examinations, in particular computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.
If necessary, thrombolysis - procedure of dissolving blood clots by drug, Diagnostic Cerebral Angiography, as well as thrombectomy - interventional procedure of removing a blood clot (thrombus) from a blood vessel was performed at the time of diagnosis
The Stroke Center has been functioning in MC Erebouni since 2014, collaborating with Canadian-Armenian neurologist Dr Michael Skoney, professor of neurology at the University of Alberta, as well as our compatriots who have achieved great successes in the field in the United States.
The years of teamwork gained, as well as the use of the new medicines and, most importantly, the technical equipment made it possible to implement the state program at such a level, delivering unprecedentedly high rates, even exceeding expectations.
