Erebuni Medical Center: A Regional Hub for Neuroangiography Education
In 2022, Professor Harutyun Kushkyan, founder of Erebuni and Nairi Medical Centers, and Bern Biber, Deputy Director of Siemens Healthineers, signed a memorandum to establish a Regional Neuroangiography Educational Center at Erebuni’s Stroke Center. Through this collaboration, international specialists have the opportunity to gain expertise in using the cutting-edge ARTIS Icono angiograph.
Over the past two years, Erebuni Medical Center has transformed into a regional educational hub, attracting neurosurgeons from Europe and CIS countries eager to learn advanced techniques using the ARTIS Icono angiograph, a state-of-the-art device developed by Siemens Healthineers. This exclusive angiograph, renowned for its unique capabilities, is the only one of its kind in the region. During this period, numerous groups of doctors have trained at the center, with over 60 specialists gaining both theoretical and hands-on experience.
Led by David Sahakyan, head of the Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery Service, and supported by Mikael Grigoryan, a renowned neurosurgeon and director of the Los Angeles Center for Cerebral Palsy, the center offers trainees invaluable insight into complex neurovascular interventions.
Recently, a group of doctors from various clinics across the Russian Federation completed their training, observing intricate intravascular procedures firsthand and learning to operate this cutting-edge equipment. After each session, participants leave Erebuni equipped with the latest theoretical knowledge and practical skills in intravascular neurosurgery, ready to apply these innovations in their home countries.
The center is now preparing to welcome its next group of trainees, continuing its mission to foster knowledge-sharing and elevate neuroangiography expertise throughout the region.
