Plasmapheresis

04.12.2023

Plasmapheresis serves as a valuable therapeutic approach for various conditions, notably addressing allergies such as urticaria, rhinitis, bronchial asthma, and atopic dermatitis. Its applications extend across modern medicine, encompassing the comprehensive management of endocrine, nervous, autoimmune, gastrointestinal, and rheumatic disorders. Additionally, it proves beneficial in cases of poisoning or alcohol misuse.

During the procedure, a designated volume of blood is extracted from a vein via specialized filtration. The plasma and other constituents undergo separation, with the latter undergoing purification before being reintroduced into the bloodstream, ensuring no loss occurs. Essentially, the patient's circulation receives purified blood, while the removed plasma is replaced with an appropriate volume of fluid.
