From 8 to 9 of December 2016 the head of Electrophysiology Department of Erasmus MC, arrhithmologist Thomas Sili-Thorak (Holland, Rotterdam)by invitation of MC Erebouni had visited Yerevan and jointly with the head of Arrhithmology Department of Erebouni MC, arrhithmologist Dr.Mihran Martirosyan (MD, PhD) carried out several patients’ examinations and performed complex surgeries with ablation and installation of artificial cardiac pacemaker.
Dr. M. Martirosyan has been closely cooperating with MC Erasmus and directly with Dr. Thomas Sili-Thorak for a quite a long time.
Dr. Thomas Sili-Thorac is a famous arrhithmologist, often visits different countries to perform showcase surgeries. During his visit to MC Erebouni, he was impressed by capabilities of Angiography Department, its technical facilities and trained medical staff.
Modern technical capabilities of prominent world clinics allow them to perform complex surgeries. MC Erebouni and its Arrhithmology Department keeps up with them. However, for further development is necessary to adopt international experience and implement new methods.
The aim of the visit of Dr. Thomas Sili –Thorak to Armenia, MC Erebouni is to found the base for fruitful cooperation of both clinics. New approaches in the treatment of arrhythmia will be considered, especially atrial fibrillation, which is one of the most life-threatening conditions. The prospects of application of robots during surgeries, which is already commonplace in the world will be discussed also. The possibilities of implementing three-dimensional system, which will provide precision diagnostics of the ischemic heart disease will be considered.
Director of Cardiology & Cardiovascular Surgery Services Prof. H.G. Hayrapetyan(MD, PhD) mentioned, that this kind of endeavors give the opportunity not only to adopt the international experience in the treatment of arrhythmia, but also to go step forward, implementing new methods and equipment.
