Introducing the Diabetes School at Erebuni Medical Center
Erebuni Medical Center is proud to announce the launch of the Diabetes School within its clinic premises. Patients enrolled in the clinic will have the opportunity to participate in regular courses and engage with specialists to learn about diabetes management procedures and associated challenges. Both clinic and medical center experts will impart knowledge on disease specifics, diabetes management techniques, and potential complications. Alongside endocrinologists, specialized professionals will join the Diabetes School sessions to address preventive measures and treatment strategies for diabetes-related conditions.
Improper diabetes control can lead to various complications, including hyperglycemia (high blood sugar levels), diabetic retinopathy (eye complications), cardiovascular issues, diabetic nephropathy (kidney complications), and more. However, through diligent self-monitoring, regular blood sugar checks, goal tracking, and proper care, these complications can often be mitigated or avoided altogether.
In the inaugural year of the Diabetes School, Loreta Antonyan, an endocrinologist at Erebuni Medical Center's polyclinic, discussed diabetes complications with patients, while Diana Zarembo, head of the ophthalmological service, shed light on diabetic retinopathy.
Upon completion of the course, patients received informative materials on diabetes control, treatment, and complications, endorsed by the Ministry of Health, to empower them in their journey towards effective diabetes management.
