In MC Nairi drug treatment of malignant tumors (cancer) - chemotherapy is carried out in cooperation with leading European clinics exclusively on the western schemes and using the best European medicine.
“In the treatment of malignant tumors is important not only the selection of effective and quality drugs, but also the scheme of the treatment. An important advantage of the treatment in our clinic is that the dosage, sequence and duration of the chemotherapy are strictly controlled. “Our clinic’s treatment results is equal to the level of prominent foreign medical centers”- noted the head of Chemotherapy Department of MC Nairi Dr. Levon Badalyan.
In the process of chemotherapy MC Nairi is always following the innovations. Today, in the clinic the scheme of the treatment, particularly, in case of breast and ovarian cancers, is carried out according to the latest standards, which are new even in the west.
“If in the past the chemotherapy was usually carried out once during twenty –one days, now modern oncology has reviewed this approach. The leading Oncology centers has proved the advantage of chemotherapy, in the treatment of breast and ovarian cancers, which is very often becomes effective in case of using it every week or once during two weeks, by so called “ frequent doses” (dose dense chemotherapy). The problem is that during twenty-one day break the cancer cells get some possibilities for reproduction, and in case of using chemotherapy with a break only for one-two weeks are prevented all possibilities for their growth and development” –noted Dr. Badalyan.
For two years the method has been put into everyday practice in the Chemotherapy Department of MC Nairi.
“Besides the treatment on a “frequent doses” basis, the schemes of “intensive doses” (dose intensified chemotherapy) are also used, when the patients instead of standard doses are injected with a little high doses, that also contributes to a more effective elimination of cancer cells. This method of treatment is provided to patients, who are in high-risk group (young people, large tumors, etc.), when there is a high threat of disease recurrence (relapse). The patients who are in high-risk group, chemotherapy of the breast cancer is carried out with combined use of the presented two new methods - dose dense chemotherapy and dose intensified chemotherapy”-noted the Head of Chemotherapy Department of MC Nairi Dr. Levon Badalyan.
