Erebuni Medical Center Welcomes Collaboration with Yale University in Emergency Medicine
Oriane Longerstey, Training Director of the Joint Armenian Clinical Residency Program in Emergency Medicine at Yale University (Connecticut, USA), recently visited Erebuni Medical Center to explore its emergency department.
During her visit, she familiarized herself with the department's capabilities, technical equipment, and operational procedures. Dr. Armine Sanamyan, the department head, highlighted the service's mission of providing accessible medical care to patients, particularly emphasizing the implementation of special protocols for urgent cases like myocardial infarction and acute ischemic stroke. This innovative approach, the first of its kind in the republic, enhances the professional services offered by Erebuni Medical Center.
The collaboration between the National Institute of Health of the Republic of Armenia and Yale University School of Medicine's Emergency and Emergency Services has led to the implementation of an 18-month clinical residency program. Spearheaded by Associate Professor Sharon Anush Chekijyan, the program aims to train emergency and ambulance service doctors in Armenia. Approved by the RA Ministry of Health, the program adheres to European Ambulance Association standards and includes online courses as well as hands-on training in the United States for Armenian specialists.
Dr. Oriane Longerstey commended the capabilities of Erebuni Medical Center's emergency department and expressed satisfaction with the department's eagerness to support the clinical residency program.
