Allergic diseases, whether seasonal or not, have been on the rise worldwide, affecting about 30 percent of the global population. In response, medical approaches have evolved to address these growing challenges. New diseases demand new treatments and solutions, which the healthcare sector has embraced with updated standards and innovative strategies.
To tackle these challenges head-on, Dr. Christina Jamalyan, Head of the Allergology Service at Erebuni Medical Center, Candidate of Medical Sciences, and Associate Professor, along with the Armenian Association of Allergists and Immunologists, organized the World Allergy Training School and the Second National Conference on Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. Erebuni Medical Center also played a key role in supporting the event.
Professor Dana Wallis, Co-Chair of the World Allergy Organization and member of the World Allergy Training Committee, traveled from the United States to share her extensive knowledge and skills with participants during hands-on training.
This conference is part of the ongoing scientific and practical advancements of Erebuni’s Allergology Service. Ruzan Hovsepyan, a specialist from the center, introduced the attendees to spirography, a test that evaluates external respiratory function by measuring lung volume, airway elasticity, and bronchial patency during forced exhalation.
Allergens are a primary cause of bronchial asthma, leading to bronchial obstruction (narrowing of the airways). Spirography helps determine both the degree of bronchial narrowing and its progression, making it essential for diagnosing, treating, and monitoring allergic diseases.
At the conference, leaders in allergology and immunology presented the latest innovations in the field. Notably, this event marked the first time that mid-level medical staff participated in such a conference, emphasizing the importance of their role in enhancing patient care. By including not only top-tier doctors but also skilled medical staff, Erebuni Medical Center and the Erebuni Medical Academy aim to improve awareness and treatment effectiveness. Additionally, Erebuni Medical Academy has launched a bachelor’s program for nurses, further enhancing the quality of healthcare services.
