Ultrasound, or sonography, is a non-invasive method used to study the structure and function of various organ systems using high-frequency sound waves that are undetectable to the human ear.

Unlike traditional sonography, which provides internal organ images in a single plane, Erebuni Medical Center offers advanced sonographic equipment capable of generating three-dimensional, volumetric images. The standard ultrasound examination typically targets organs such as the thyroid, lymph nodes, salivary glands, subcutaneous tissues, joints, liver, bile ducts, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, bladder, and reproductive organs—specifically the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries in women, and the prostate, seminal vesicles, and testicles in men.

Preparation for the Ultrasound Examination:

• Arriving with a full bladder is recommended for better imaging.
• It is important to note the following:
  • Medications prescribed by your doctor can be taken as usual.
  • On the day of the examination, avoid smoking and chewing gum.
  • If both a gastroscopy and an abdominal ultrasound are scheduled for the same day, the ultrasound should be performed before the gastroscopy.
  • Previous diagnostic results should be presented if available.

The results of the ultrasound are provided immediately after the examination.

If the examination is covered by state funding or insurance, ensure compensation is pre-approved by the appropriate department; otherwise, the service will be on a paid basis.
